Inheritance Cycle:

A 15-year-old boy named Eragon finds a dragon egg while hunting to feed his family for the winter. When the egg hatches, he becomes a Dragon Rider, and has to team up with a whole bunch of ass-kicking characters, most of whom are female, to overthrow the tyrant Galbatorix

Artemis Fowl: A 12-year-old genius kidnaps a fairy in order to steal fairy gold. He plans to use the gold to pay for expeditions to find his father, who had gone missing. Unfortunately, these faries are DANGEROUS, and the girl he kidnapped didn’t get her rank as the first female Captain as a joke

A Series of Unfortunate Events: Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire lose their parents in a tragic fire, leaving them with a massive fortune that can’t be touched until Violet turns eighteen. However, their greedy relative, Count Olaf, doesn’t feel like waiting that long, and will use any means necessary to get his hands on the childrens’ money.

Graceling: Kasta is a girl with an unusual ability; she has the power to kill, and do so effectively. Her uncle, King Randa, uses her to do his dirty work. When Kasta finally works up the courage to defy him, she flees the kingdom with a friend, and finds that her Grace (special ability), was not what she thought it to be. [Seriously, this book is SUPER feminist you’ll love it]

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: When Earth is destroyed to make way for a Hyperspace Bypass, Arthur Dent is the lone survivor. Now, Arthur must navigate through the Galaxy, accompanied by a strange group that includes a clinically depressed robot, the President of the Galaxy, and a face from Arthur’s past. Now, what does the number 42 have to do with any of this?

Percy Jackson and the Olympians/The Heroes of Olympus: Half-Bloods, or Demigods, are the children of Gods and Mortals. They attract monsters, often suffer ADHD, dyslexia, or both, and are usually ignored by their godly parent. However, when the fate of the world hangs in the balance, it’s up to them to save it.

The Kane Chronicles: Carter and Sadie Kane are nothing alike. Carter has his father’s dark skin, lives out of a suitcase, and dresses like a junior professor, while Sadie has pale skin, lives in London, and only sees her brother and her father twice a year. When they go on a museum trip with their father, their lives change forever.

The Spiderwick Chronicles: When the Grace children, Mallory, Simon, and Jared, move into the Spiderwick estate, they discover a guidebook to the various kinds of faeries. A Brownie named Thimbletack warns them that the book is dangerous, and should be destroyed. Spoiler alert: they don’t

“My mother said I was strong enough,“ Bitterblue said, beginning to shiver. "I was ten years old, and Leck was chasing us, and she knelt before me in a field of snow and gave me a knife and said that I was strong enough to survive what was coming. She said I had the heart and the mind of a queen.”

Bitterblue turned her face away from Fire, just for a moment, because this was hard; saying this truth aloud was hard. “I want to have the heart and mind of a queen,” she whispered. “I want it more than anything. But I’m only pretending. I can’t find the feeling of it inside me.”

Fire considered her quietly. You want me to look for it inside you.

“I just want to know,” Bitterblue said. “If it’s there, it would be a great comfort for me to know.”

Fire said, I can tell you already that it’s there.

“Really?” Bitterblue whispered.

Queen Bitterblue, Fire said, shall I share with you the feeling of your own strength?

Fire took her mind so that it was as if she were in her own bedroom, raw with crying and grief.

“This doesn’t feel strong,” Bitterblue said.

Wait, said Fire, still kneeling beside her in the library. Be patient.

What makes me really sad is when I go into the Graceling tag and see how few people and posts there are, because my favorite book in the entire world seems to have such a small fandom and it’s incredibly disappointing.

Here’s a book with empowering female characters and ladies of color and men of color and fantastic worldbuilding and a fascinating concept and writing capable of provoking serious emotional responses, and it’s just so under-appreciated. Here’s a book I would gladly give and recommend to every human being on the entire earth to read, but I can’t remember that last time I met someone who had even heard of it.

And I just want to become best friends with every person who’s read and liked it and form a massive circle and shout “READ THE GRACELING REALMS SERIES” to the whole world over and over again until this series is appreciated and loved as much as it deserves to be.

I love you. I love you for who you are. But i hate how you are with me. You’ve changed. I’ve changed. We were better for each other before. Now, we have changed. We have grown up, but also away from each other. The people we’ve become are no longer the perfect match. And I hate to say that. But it’s the truth. And I like who I am now, even if you don’t like me anymore. Even if it means losing you, because bad as that is, it is worse to lose myself.

Why does it hurt? I chose this. I wanted this. I did this.
Why does it hurt so much? Why do I feel like I’m falling apart?
Because I love you. I do. I always will. And what is love without pain? But also, what is pain without love?
Mom used to say, “If it hurts, then it is not love.” But if it doesn’t hurt, it’s too easy, mom. Love is not easy. But it makes the pain bearable.
Only if the pain is too much. Only when the pain is greater than the love. Only then, you need to walk away. And that’s what I did. For us.
It only brought me more pain. But also freedom. To be who I want to be, without thinking if you are going to like me or not. To do all I want to do now, before it’s too late.
It may hurt now. It may be painful now. But I know it will be okay. I will be okay. Without you.
